They’ll be dead before the end of the year, their bodies wrecked and their minds twisted into the worst insanity. After committing their foul atrocities they’ll eventually be brought down by the royal armies, hacked apart and burnt alive. But not before making more of their own kind, always more.
‘Lady Garden’ is a euphemism and sounds like a a children’s TV programme. Combined with the British passion for double entendre and innuendo, it led to me writing this story. To get the most out of the story, imagine you’re reading it like one of those constantly happy and patronising children’s presenters.

Astronomers have been finding exoplanets out there. Planets may mean life, although this doesn’t necessarily mean intelligent life. The question is not why we haven’t found them yet. It’s more like how they will react when they do turn up. Will they steal our water and make us into burgers, or will they bring immortality and reliable Wi-Fi?
I fear Isaac Asimov’s ‘three laws of robotics’ will hardly ever be implemented. Once technology advances, humans will be removed from the chain of command, and the future predicted by science fiction writers will come to pass. It was these thoughts that resulted in the idea for this story.
Humans are hard-wired to seek fun, even if at times life, experience and poverty block that need. Even the dourest human should have fun sometimes. Staying home gives you access to collecting porcelain ferrets, rebuilding rotary engines or knitting bobble hats for the neighbours, you name it… What? You need more?
